Why should I buy a custom server when I already have a computer I can use for a server?
The answer is simple, performance. The computers you buy off the shelf are mainstream, meaning that they are manufactured as general use machines. General use includes internet surfing, video gaming, etc., not running a business. Home-based machines simply don’t have the muscle or the stamina to carry a network of 4 or more machines. They are simply not designed to.

In addition, home-based machines are not at all equipped with the appropriate software to efficiently run a small business network.
1. Windows XP Home was designed for home use and is not designed for network business use as per Microsoft.
2. Home-based machines are prepackaged with either little or no security utilities.
